GRAMMAR: Relative pronouns with prepositions

 

   I. FORM

preposition (giới từ) + whom/ which

Ví dụ :
- The bed on which I slept last night wasn’t very comfortable.
- The woman with whom I didn’t keep space was running very fast.

who / whom / which / that…+ preposition

Ví dụ :
- The bed which/ that I slept on last night wasn’t very comfortable.
- The woman who/ whom I didn’t keep space with was running very fast.

    II. NOTES

 Sau giới từ, không sử dụng “who” và “that”   

Ví dụ :

 -  The man was running very fast. I didn’t keep space with him.
        = The man who/ whom I didn’t keep running very space with was fast.
        = The man with who/ whom I didn’t keep running very space was fast.                       

- The bed wasn’t very comfortable. I slept on it last night.
    = The bed which/ that I slept on last night wasn’t very comfortable.
    = The bed on which/ that I slept last night wasn’t very comfortable
